The First Signal: Welcome to Vibe Together

I believe it begins with vibration.

Before we can name the world, we experience its rhythms: a heartbeat, a voice, a pattern moving through the body. Sound is the earliest connection to something beyond ourselves. The first sense you develop in the womb that allows you to collide with the external world is hearing. Across cultures and throughout history, people have used sound to gather, communicate, celebrate, grieve, worship, and play. Music is more than entertainment. It is one of humanity’s oldest shared technologies.

Music has been a lifelong obsession of mine. Creating it, listening to it, judging it, and dancing to it #PLUR. Video games are my other hobby.

Vibe Together exists where those two worlds meet.

It is my contribution to the endless history of finding new ways for people to experience music and discover the beautiful patterns in it’s theory as not only listeners but also as participants.

We are entering a new era where our relationship to creativity is being transformed and challenged. Generative systems can produce endless material. Digital tools can compress years of technical knowledge into a few interactions.

While creation is becoming faster and mere words away, it is clear that these new ways of creating do not automatically make the creation meaningful or make the connection the creator has to it real. We must strike the right balance of where tools help us and where our divinely inspired and uniquely human taste should play a sacrosanct role.

The question behind Vibe Together is not simply:

How can we make music easier to produce?

It is:

How can we make the act of making music digitally more playful, social, and alive?

Why this Blog exists

This Blog is a record of the ideas, experiments, and the how of Vibe Together.

Posts will move between creative practice and engineering: nonlinear sequencing, procedural music, multiplayer music making, the synth engine, browser audio, server architecture, experiments from the community, and the decisions that change the product.

Some articles will be for players looking for a new way to make music with friends. Some will be for composers exploring systems and form. Others will go deeper for musicians, game designers, and engineers interested in how a shared musical world stays coherent. Stay tuned for -

What Vibe Together is

Vibe Together is a multiplayer music sandbox. You place musical objects on a shared grid, connect them with wires, and turn visible signal flow into sound. Friends can join the same room and shape the same living composition together.

It is part instrument, part game, and part shared space. You can start without installing music software or learning a traditional production timeline. The graph shows what is connected, where sound can travel, and how one musical decision can become another.

Music as a shared place

Timelines are magnificent. Vibe Together is another kind of composition. Instead of asking only when a sound happens, the graph also asks what it touches, how far it travels, and what changes it meets along the way. Move an object and the groove can move with it. Split a route and one idea becomes several voices.

That spatial model also changes collaboration. One person can shape a path while someone else reroutes harmony and another changes the larger form. Everyone works on the same musical object instead of passing versions back and forth.
